The 1st International Advances in Imaging for Congenital Heart Disease

On July 17–18, 2025, the Pediatric Heart Center of Excellence, QSNICH, hosted “The 1st International Advances in Imaging for Congenital Heart Disease.”

The opening speech was given by Dr. Arkom Chaiwerawattana, Director of QSNICH, and the welcoming speech by Dr. Worakan Promphan, Deputy Director of Medical Services and Head of Pediatric Heart Center of Excellence.

This event brought together leading Thai and international experts in pediatric and adult cardiology, radiology, and imaging who are involved in the care of patients with congenital heart disease to share their insights, experiences, and the latest advances in imaging technologies.

The two-day program included comprehensive lectures and a dinner symposium under the theme “Comprehensive Strategies for HarmonyTM Valve Implantation: Pre–Procedural Assessment and Risk Considerations” led by distinguished speakers from several renowned Thai institutions, including Chiang Mai University, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, and Songklanagarind Hospital.

We were also honored to welcome distinguished international speakers:

  • Dr. Phuoc Duong, Consultant and Instructor in Pediatric Cardiology, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom
  • Dr. Leong Ming Chern, Vice President of the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Cardiology and Deputy Head of the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Centre, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robin Chen, Consultant in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong SAR
  • Prof. Dr. Gareth J. Morgan, Director of Interventional Congenital Cardiology, Children’s Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado, USA

The workshop focused on the exchange of advanced imaging techniques—including echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), cardiac computed tomography (CCT), and angiography—that support interventional cardiology and help enhance treatment planning and reduce complications.

Beyond the scientific program, the event offered a valuable opportunity to create new friendships, strengthen international collaborations, and promote both clinical and academic excellence in the care of congenital heart disease.
